Here's the lowdown on car sales:
Invoice price is the dealers cost, sort of. In most cases the manufacturer will rebate the dealer a certain amount, called "hold-back", for every vehicle sold out of inventory. We won't try to fool you, if we sell you a car for $299 over invoice we actually make more than $299 (That's why dealers can't advertise "less than invoice" in state's with strong consumer protection laws). But, what do you care as long as you can buy the same quality Cadillac for less than at your hometown motors?
